Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account: your name and email from Google or Apple. We use them only for your account and never show them to other people.
• Phone number: to verify you with a code. Never shown to other people.
• Face check: when you sign up, when you host and every 6 months, our verification provider (Didit) takes a live selfie to check you’re a real person, the same person each time, and not someone who already has an account. Didit keeps your sign-up face, encrypted, while your account is open (up to 12 months at a time, renewed by each check) so later checks can be compared with it, and deletes it when you delete your account. We never keep the selfie or your face data, only the result (passed or not, when, and Didit’s reference).
• Profile: your photo, @username and the area you choose.
• Location: the area you set, places you pin when you host, and your location once when you tap Check in, to confirm you’re at the game. We never track you in the background. For check-in we keep only that you checked in, how far you were from the pin and when.
• Activity: the games and groups you create, join, like or leave, your check-ins and your budget.
• Messages: chat messages, polls and reports in games and groups.
• Safety: your emergency contact’s name and number, people you block, and reports you make or receive.
• Device: phone model, app version, notification token and crash reports.

Why we use it

• To run the app: show games near you, and let you join, host and chat.
• To keep people safe: verify who people are, stop overlapping bookings, handle reports, and check on you when you ask us to.
• To show trust stats, like games hosted and how often someone shows up (from check-ins).
• To send the reminders and notifications you choose.
• To fix problems, improve the app and follow the law.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for ads.

We rely on: our agreement with you (to provide the app), your consent (face check, location, notifications; you can withdraw it in your phone’s settings, though some features then stop working), our legitimate interest in keeping people safe and preventing fraud, and legal duties.

What other people see

• Everyone on SportyReserve: your photo, @username, area, the games you host, that you’re going to a game (on that game’s page), and your trust stats (verified, games hosted, showed up, member since).
• People in the same game or group: your messages and votes there.
• Never shown: your real name, email, phone number, face check, exact check-in location or emergency contact.

Who we share it with

• Our verification provider, for phone and face checks.
• Our hosting and database provider, which stores the data securely.
• Google Maps and Apple Maps, when you search places or open a map.
• Apple and Google, for signing in and notifications.
• Your emergency contact, only if you turn on “Check on me after” and don’t answer.
• The authorities, when the law requires it or someone’s life is at risk.

These companies may only use your data to do this work for us. Some store data outside Nigeria; when they do, we use the safeguards the NDPA requires.

Money

We don’t collect, hold or move money. Contributions are paid to the host in person. We will never ask for your card or bank details.

How long we keep it

• While your account is open.
• When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo and personal data within 30 days. Your messages in group chats are removed or shown without your name.
• We keep some records longer only when the law requires it or to deal with a safety report (for example, that an account was banned).
• If an account is banned, Didit keeps a pattern of the face (not a picture) for about a year, so the same person can’t sign up again.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, get a copy, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email us at support@sportyreserve.com. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Security

Data is encrypted on its way to and from our servers, and only people who need it can access it. No system is perfectly secure; if you spot a problem, tell us.

Adults only

SportyReserve is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we delete any account we find that belongs to someone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
